#2 Maddie

Masks

The masks have been a difficult part of this school year.  You have to wear them all the time. If the teacher is walking around the room you have to wear it. If the teacher is at their desk or at the front of the room you can take it off. We have to wear our masks in the hallway and at all of our specials except for the band. You have to take your mask down to play your instrument. It is really hard outside because you can’t mix classes. A lot of my friends are in other classes and you can’t really see them but you can because the rule is you mix with your friends who are in other classes.

Lockers

Lockers have also been hard because I got all of this stuff that I can’t even use any more. I was so excited to decorate my locker. I had a chandelier, a mirror and shelves and storage for the stuff I needed. Now I can’t be as organized because the only things I have are my backpack and a bin. The bin is really helpful because it is pretty big and I can fit a lot of stuff in there. I was always so excited for middle school because of my locker and now I can’t even use them.

Quarantine

We have been quarantined twice. It is really hard because there are a lot of distractions. All of the things that you are looking forward to doing when you get home from school are right there in front of you. It is tempting to do other things when you are at home. You can easily just turn your mic and camera off and go do something else. Sometimes you don’t want to do an assignment and do something other than what you are supposed to be doing. The more things you skip the more things pile up. Then you have your siblings, parents and pets. They can also be distracting.

Recess

During recess we can’t see any of our friends because we can’t mix classes. Two of my friends have the same recess time as me but I can’t see them because we can’t mix. We used to play soccer outside during recess. We were the only ones playing. Then a few weeks later some seventh graders started playing with us and they didn’t even ask. As the days went on more people started to play. Then it became a problem and so the principal had to send an email saying that we can’t play it any more.
